The ‘normal’ way to exclude words from being flagged by CafeTran's spell-checker is to add them to the User.dic via the context menu.
Sometimes, however, you don't want words to be added to the User.dic while at the same time you don't want them to be flagged as misspelled. For instance when your source text contains instructions or sequences in the source language that don't have to be translated and simply should be copied to the target side.
In this case you can assign the translation status ‘Checked’ to these segments. Checked segments are excluded from spell-checking (and from all other QA checks as a matter of fact).
Here is how it works
1. Filter on the string that you want to exclude from spell-checking:
- Open the Find and Replace dialog.
- Type the Find string.
- Click on the funnel icon to activate the Segments filter.
- Click on the Find button.
- Close the dialog.
2. From the Translation menu choose Task and Set Checked status for target segments.

You can also exclude segments that only contain ranges of spaces from spell-checking. Filter on segments that don't contain letters, set them to Checked.
