Granulometry (morphology)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In mathematical morphology, granulometry is an approach to compute a size distribution of grains in binary images, using a series of morphological opening operations. It was introduced by Georges Matheron in the 1960s, and is the basis for the characterization of the concept of size in mathematical morphology

Granulometry

Granulometry is the measurement of the size distribution in a collection of grains. It is also called particle size distribution test. It is often characterized by the percentage of particles with certain diameter ranges (in micron meters).Text = red You can often find it in the section 9 of a safety data sheet (SDS).

Regulatory Implications of Granulometry

Solids in fine powder or dusty form are more hazardous because they more likely to enter air, which may lead to additional hazards such as respiratory hazards or explosive dusts.

Under REACH, this study does not need to be conducted if a chemical is marketed or used in a non solid or granular form.

In terms of road aggregate, gravel, sand etc, the Colas Bilingual Dictionary gives:
