Hi there! If I click "Edit invoice details", to edit an invoice and I then add a date under "Date paid", can you make it so the software automatically changes the status to "Paid"?

About Beijerdeas

Over the years I have submitted literally hundreds of feature requests and proposed ideas to various developers of CAT tools and other software. This page is where I will try to keep track of all of them. I'll be starting with any new Beijerdeas[1], but will also be adding old ones if and when I have time.

Two-step ChatGPT prompt to translate a term in its actual context

Source: https://community.techforword.com/c/day-1-ai/steven#all_comments

Here is an idea: I'd like a two-step prompt, whose shortcut does the following: I click the shortcut, and CotranslatorAI monitors my next 2 text selections. The 1st selection (variable #1) is stored as a term I want to translate, and the 2nd selection (variable #1) is stored as the context of the former.

ChatGPT then uses these two variables to suggest a translation of the term (variable #1) based on its actual context (variable #2).

I'm sure I could create something like this with AutoHotkey, so I bet you guys could figure something out! Or already have.

Any way to get regular expressions to work in MT Enhanced Provider for SDL Trados Studio's find & replace XML files?

I want straight quotes to be automatically converted to curly ones in the Google Translate MT output,

So: In this document, the term "room" is used for an enclosed space. ▶ In this document, the term “room” is used for an enclosed space.

I tried adding the following in the XML file:

<EditItem Enabled="true" EditItemType="plain_text">

<FindText>"[\w\s]+"</FindText>

<ReplaceText>“[\w\s]+”</ReplaceText>

</EditItem>

But apparently regex is not supported. Any other ideas on how to achieve this?

GT4T has a handy little option that does this automatically, btw.

Automatic QA terminology tool

Would it be possible to create a QA terminology tool that would work without a glossary or termbase, for finding term inconsistencies, but without referring to term pairs stored in termbase?

What I mean is, the program scans both the source and target text and tries to find any inconsistencies in terms of terminology, but without referring to term pairs stored in a glossary or termbase.

I will use a simplified example to illustrate what it would do:

For example, it spots that certain source segments contain the Dutch word "organisatie", and that in most cases there is an English word "organization" in the target text. However, the program also notices that in one source segment containing the Dutch word "organisatie", the corresponding target text contains the word "organisation". It therefore flags this segment as containing inconsistent terminology.

Or does such a thing already exist somewhere?

Add terms to specific termbases (with keyboard shortcuts) in Trados Studio

Source: https://community.rws.com/ideas/trados-portfolio-ideas/i/multiterm-ideas/add-terms-to-specific-termbases-with-keyboard-shortcuts-in-trados-studio 2022-07-01

I think it's high time it was made possible to add terms to specific termbases (with keyboard shortcuts), on the fly.

Many other CAT tools currently support this, and I would love to see this functionality added to the latest version of Trados Studio, which is currently my favourite CAT tool.

I am currently using Nora Díaz's great little AutoHotkey script (see: http://noradiaz.blogspot.com/2016/11/adding-terms-to-secondary-termbase.html) to add terms to a secondary termbase, but since it's based on AHK, it isn't perfect.

Using the Trados/MultiTerm API is beyond my capabilities, but the developers at RWS ought to be able to handle this.

In any case, being able to quickly send terms to a project termbase & background termbase (with keyboard shortcuts) is a very useful feature in a CAT tool, and is sorely needed IYAM.

Please upvote!

  1. The term, ‘Beijerdeas’ started out as a joke on the old CafeTran Google Groups list, where I spent way too much time arguing with with Hans Lenting and Hans van den Broek about how to design the ultimate CAT tool.
