Shear Bolts (or snap-off bolts) are a special type of security machine screw or bolt which can be supplied with either a countersunk head or button head.

The head of these bolts is topped with a hexagonal head section that is designed to shear off at the predetermined torque, when the bolt is tightened to its maximum.

When the hexagonal drive head shears off, it leaves a either the countersunk head or a button head – neither of which offer any grip access for a spanner or socket type removal tool making them a secure, permanent fixing.
